Ramadan is just around the corner so if you haven’t prepared for it yet, below are two free online courses offered by Ebrahim College that I would recommend to get you ready.

This course, divided into two modules (Making the most out of Ramadan and the Fiqh of Ramadan) is delivered by the founder of Ebrahim college, Shaykh Shams Ad-Duha. From a very young age, we are taught that fasting is one of the five pillars of Islam and that it is an obligation upon every Muslim but our knowledge rarely goes beyond this. We can only fulfil this obligation correctly if we have the necessary knowledge in regards to its preparation. The Fiqh of Ramadan module is especially useful because it covers in detail topics such as the sunan and etiquettes of fasting, what nullifies the fast, acts that are disliked but don’t break the fast, Tarawih and the Do’s and Don’ts of Itikaf. The videos are supplemented with PDF booklets as well so take advantage of the course!

The first thing that comes to mind when we think of Ramadan is fasting. But how many of us reflect on the ayah where Allah SWT tells us that Ramadan is the month of the Qur’an.

The month of Ramadan (is that) in which was revealed the Qur’an, a guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and criterion. So whoever sights (the new moon) of the month, let him fast it, and whoever is ill or on a journey – then an equal number of other days. Allah intends for you ease and does not intend for you hardship and (wants) for you to complete the period and to glorify Allah for that (to) which He has guided you; and perhaps you will be grateful. [Surah Baqarah 2:185]

The Qur’ān & Me course delivered by Shaykh Muhammad Ibn Ismail Bhuta aims to talk about the important qualities that we should develop, to help us truly benefit from this divine eternal guidance: Al- Qur’ān al -Kareem.
